Power Rangers Beast Masters
Alternative title: Chokyo-shi Sentai Yajuger (Tamer Squadron Beast Rangers)
My first all original Power Rangers/ Super Sentai Team in years.
Beast Masters are sort of a re-imagining of an almagam team I did years ago based on Animorphs. These rangers could be considered a mix between Gaoranger and Gokaiger, as the rangers can access the powers of several animals, rather than just one as in a typical animal themed series and their costumes change accordingly. The rangers activate the different 'beast modes' via the 'Beast Power Coins'. The symbol on their chest changes based on which beast coin is used. The morphers for this series are bucklers like in the Zyuranger/MMPR series. The rangers place the coins in the slot on the buckle to activate the creature power.
The basic 5 team is divided similarly to RPM/Goonger, with the red, blue, and yellow rangers making up the first part of the team, and the black and pink rangers making up the second part. I decided to have 2 female rangers in this configuration as opposed to the typical one female ranger.
When a secret government laboratory accidentally releases an army of human animal hybrids, it is up to a new team of rangers to tame the power of the beast zords and save the world from this new threat. Empowered by mysticalenergies from Eltar, and equipped with the laboratory's finest technology, the rangers must first capture all the Beast Zords and utilize them against the growing hybrid army.
Beast Master 1, Red/ Aaron Firewalker
A native american, chosen by the powers of Eltar to lead the Beast Masters in their quest to tame the Beast Zords. As the son of a tribal leader, Aaron is used to giving orders, though he isn't used to taking them. His pride ofttimes puts him at odds with the laboratory's head scientist and mentor to the other rangers.
Beast Master 2, Blue/ Gabe Jones
An african american, Gabe and his good friend Mya grew up together in the organizations private living sector. He's the techie of the group, and can get very elated when there are new technologies to test out.
Beast Master 3, Yellow/ Mya Valera
Hispanic, the youngest, brightest member of the team, no one loves nature as much as she does. This love for nature is actually beneficial, because she is able to interact with the beast zords.
Beast Master 4, Black/ Joel Matthews
Caucasian, one of a pair of twins that joined the team later as secondary members, Joel and his sister were a pair of earthlings who grew up on Eltar. Joel was good friends with the creator of the new power coins. He and his sister were sent to earth after the first three were captured by the hybrid army. The two were able to infiltrate the hybrids main headquarters and rescue their comrades and destroy most of the hybrids base, in the impending zord battle.
As a ranger, he's more by the books than the others, putting him at odds with the red ranger at first, but he soon learned to fight by 'their rules'.
Beast Master 5, Pink/ Jael Matthews
Caucasian, the twin sister of Joel. Before joining the full team, she would follow her brother's lead no matter what, no questions asked. As her time with the team, she found herself falling in love with Aaron and transfered her loyalty to him, though still partially loyal to her brother. She's a little bit awkward socially, as she grew up on an alien planet, and not familiar with earth customs.
Beast Master 6, Gray/ Kyoryu
A resident of Eltar, whose father helped Zordon create the original ranger's power coins and Zords. Constantly tinkering with his fathers equipment, Kyoryu sought to recreate the original power coins so that one person could use them, like the Beast Masters. The experiment was semi-successful, as to gain blueprints for new dino zords, he had to travel back in time to the era of the dinosaurs.
After gaining the right material, he returned to modern day earth, just in time to battle the hybrid uprising. Kyoryu is the only ranger part of the team who started out in control of multiple zords, as well as a complete megazord.
Crimson Beast Hunter/Calvarius
Another resident of Eltar, on whom the new Beast Power Coins were tested. Calvarius took advantage of the scientists and stole a good many of the prototype power coins, intending to use the powers for his own gain. He also took with him blank coins with which he could actually duplicate power coins as well as Beast Zords, creating shadowy forms of the original.
Calvarius and Joel are bitter enemies, as Calvarius killed Joel's mentor when he stole the power coins.
He starts out strictly against the other rangers, but when the hybrids interrupt one of their battles, he turns on them as well.
He still kept up his rivalry with the black ranger, to the point he actually drew him out to fight him alone. During the fight however, the hybrids attacked the two rangers, and Joel surprised Calvarius by deflecting a surprise attack meant for him.
The ranger began to have a change of heart, and slowly turned to fight on the ranger's side, though separately under his own rules.
